Allen Zieger, D.O. (1910-1984) founded Zieger Osteopathic Hospital in Detroit. Established in 1944, Zieger Osteopathic Hospital was the predecessor organization to Botsford General Hospital which opened in Farmington Hills in 1965. Named in his memory, the Zieger Health Care Corporation honors Dr. Zieger's life and spirit. A clinician, surgeon, administrator, and educator, Dr. Zieger was the recipient of the Walter F. Patenge Medal of Public Service from the Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine, and the American Osteopathic Hospital Association Award of Merit. Dr. Zieger was committed to excellence in health care, to the well-being of the community, and to medical education. The Zieger Health Care Corporation was founded on these beliefs which unite us as a mutually supportive corporate family.
