DREAMING OF A CLUB WITH A SHOVEL IN YOUR HANDS?

PREPARE TO TEE OFF WITH BOTSFORD’S GREAT GOLF PROGRAMS

Farmington Hills, Mich., January 28, 1999 — Spring may still be just a promise, but the folks at Botsford’s Total Rehabilitation & Athletic Conditioning Center (TRACC) figure it’s time to take advantage of all that aerobic conditioning golfers have been doing out on their driveways and open registration for two popular annual programs, Tee Off with TRACC and the TRACC Golf Conditioning Class.

A great opportunity for novices and veterans alike to hone healthy playing habits, Tee Off with TRACC is designed to help players avoid golf-related injuries as well improve their games. This two-hour session is presented on the campus of Botsford General Hospital in Farmington Hills on Tuesday, March 9, 9:30-11:30 a.m., or Wednesday, March 10, 7-9 p.m. The fee is $10. Due to limited capacity, preregistration and prepayment are required.

This informative event, which is recommended as a prelude to the TRACC Golf Conditioning Class, offers:
TRACC exercise physiologist Shel Levine, M.S., teaching exercises to condition muscles as well strengthen the back;
Bloomfield Hills Country Club assistant golf pro Karen Delahante demonstrating ways to modify your golf swing and stance to avoid strain and injury; and
Botsford physician Stephen Goldman, D.O., explaining the role of osteopathic manipulation and physical therapy in relieving some of the muscle strains, back injuries, and pain that golfers may experience.

The four-week TRACC Golf Conditioning Class starts Tuesday, March 16, and continues Tuesdays and Thursdays, 9:30-10:45 a.m., through Thursday, April 8 . The class is a terrific way to prepare your “winter body” for the physical rigors of golf season while minimizing your risks for injuries.

Held at TRACC in Novi, the program features exercise physiologist Shel Levine, M.S., teaching a variety of sure-fire exercises to strengthen and stretch muscles. Participants are asked to bring along their favorite golf club to use during the in-class training sessions. The fee is $40 for the entire eight-session class. Due to limited capacity, however, preregistration and prepayment are required.

For more information on these excellent programs or to register, call Shel Levine at (248) 473-5600.

TRACC is the Novi-based comprehensive outpatient rehabilitation and conditioning facility that specializes in sports, occupational and rehabilitation medicine. It is part of Botsford General Hospital’s Physical Medicine Department.
