Did You Know?: Prostate Cancer
Source: American Cancer Society, June 2002

  • Know the facts about prostate cancer and protect the men in your life. This Father’s Day, you could save a life by providing the men you love with valuable information from the American Cancer Society.
  • Have you thought about getting tested for prostate cancer? Get the facts and talk with your doctor at your annual checkup.
  • Prostate cancer is the second leading cause of cancer death among American men. Help turn this statistic around by adding your voice to the American Cancer Society’s Action Network. Connect with your local lawmakers and ask them to make prostate cancer research a top priority.
  • Are you a prostate cancer survivor? Do you know someone who has faced this disease? Reach out to others dealing with prostate cancer through the American Cancer Society’s Man to Man® program. Newly diagnosed patients need to hear first-hand experiences of what to expect and how to cope.
  • If you or someone you know is dealing with cancer, contact the American Cancer Society for support. We offer services like the I Can Cope® program, assisting patients and their families throughout the cancer experience, and Cancer Survivors NetworkSM, connecting cancer survivors across the country by phone or Internet to share experiences, strength, and hope. At every step, we are here.
  • June 2 is National Cancer Survivors Day - a time to honor the nearly nine million Americans alive today who have faced cancer personally. Celebrate those you know who have battled this disease by contributing to the continued fight for a cure.

Call the American Cancer Society at 1-800-ACS-2345 or visit www.cancer.org for more information.
