Graduate Medical Education - Resident Programs | Medical Students EEG INTERPRETATION Following completion of the EEG out rotation, it is the resident's responsibility to continue to read EEG's on a daily basis, both at the hospital and in the office setting. The resident will keep a daily log of all EEG's read. The residents in-house will set up a schedule for EEG reading and follow this on a daily basis. TEACHING RESPONSIBILITIES The neurology residents will actively participate in the teaching and training of all rotating students, interns and residents. Didactic sessions must be held at a minimum of three times per week with the rotators on our service. The resident will participate in morning and noon house staff lectures as designated by the Program Director and/or assistant Program Directors. PAPERS/RESEARCH Original research is part of the neurology residency. The resident must submit an abstract of his/her paper to the Program Director by the start of his/her 3rd year. The final original paper must follow accepted APA guidelines and be of sufficient quality to be submitted for publication. The resident will not be allowed to graduate without completion and review of their paper in a timely fashion. LOGS The resident will keep detailed logs of patients, diagnoses and procedures, which will be submitted and reviewed by the program Director or Assistant Program Director every year. EXAMS The resident will be required to take the yearly on-site national neurology residents exam, usually given in March each year. Their performance will be reviewed with the Program Director or Assistant Program director. Quarterly written/oral/practical exams are being developed. Pre-tests and post tests are also being developed in conjunction with out-service rotations and will be given as deemed appropriate by the Program Director. PERFORMANCE EVALUATION The resident's progress and performance will be reviewed at quarterly intervals with the Program Director and/or Assistant Program Directors. OUT SERVICES Out services will be obtained at various institutions or settings, depending upon availability. Presently, Henry Ford, university of Michigan, the DMC and M.I.N.D. are the primary settings for out services. Present out services include:
ELECTIVES Depending upon scheduling, one to three months of electives may be granted to the resident, including pain control, sleep disorders and further neurophysiology training.
