Graduate Medical Education - Resident Programs | Medical Students

NEUROLOGY

During the second year, a four week rotation is spent learning various procedures used in the diagnosis of neurological disorders. Training will be both office and hospital-based.

SUBSPECIALTY SURGERY

During the second year, a two week rotation in Ophthalmology and a three week rotation in Urology will be required to acquaint the resident with the necessary skills for office based problems.

ELECTIVE

Residents may select up to four weeks of electives during the first year and up to 12 weeks in the second year in order to receive more intensive training in areas of interest.

RESEARCH

All residents are encouraged to participate in research and are required to submit a scientific research paper prior to graduation.

PROGRAM & POSITIONS OFFERED

The training program is for two years following the successful completion of an AOA-approved internship. Completion of the program leads to eligibility for the certification examination of the American College of General Practitioners in Osteopathic Medicine and Surgery.

Six positions are currently approved and funded per year, with a total of 12 residents in the program.

RESIDENCY PROGRAM ACCREDITATION

The Botsford General Hospital Family Practice Residency Program is fully approved by the Committee on Evaluation and Education of the American College of General Practitioners in Osteopathic Medicine and Surgery and accredited by the American Osteopathic Association to offer two years of training in Family Practice.
