REQUIREMENTS

1. The resident will be provided the opportunity to participate in the management of sufficient numbers of deliveries, inclusive of all pathology. These will include but not be limited to:

A. Forcep Deliveries
B. Rotation
C. Breech Extractions

D. C-Sections
E. Abruption
F. Praevia
G. Diabetes Mellitus
H. Cardiovascular Disease
I. Renal Disease
K. Pregnancy Induced Hypertension
L. Hypertension
M. Post-Partum Hemorrhage
N. DIC
O. Thyroid Disease

2. The Ob/Gyn resident will be provided the opportunity for adequate surgical experience for both the recognition of pathology and the development of sufficient skills to protect patients from complications that may arise from gynecological surgery.

3. The Ob/Gyn resident shall be directly responsible to the attending surgeon in respect to pre-op preparation of all surgical patients and for post-operative care.

4. The resident is responsible to instruct the intern and any student on his service.

5. The resident will be first-assistant on cesarean sections.

6. The resident is required to attend all department meetings and to prepare protocols for all C-Section and Fetal Mortality Review.

7. The resident is required to keep current logs and submit these for review to the Educational Committee on a quarterly basis.

8. The resident must submit one research paper, suitable for publication., or an acceptable alternative project pertinent to the field of Obstetrics and Gynecology over a four year period. Clinical research is encouraged.

9. The Ob/Gyn surgical resident will personally conduct all pre-op gyn exams, review pre-op data, including all x-ray and laboratory data and be prepared to discuss the case with the attending surgeon.

10. The Ob/Gyn resident will examine all patients on his/her service as required and act as coordinator to the intern and student on his service. REQUIREDMENTS CONTINUTED >
