Program Description: The General Vascular Surgery Residency at Botsford General Hospital is a one-year program accredited by the American Osteopathic Association. It is designed to meet all of the requirements of the American Osteopathic Association and the American College of Osteopathic Surgeons.

The program is designed to provide didactic operative experience and training in all aspects of General Vascular Surgery. Following completion of the program, the resident will achieve competence in all aspects of General Vascular Surgery including:

  • Preoperative assessment and postoperative care of the vascular surgery patient.
  • Laboratory medicine and radiology as they pertain to the diagnosis and management of vascular diseases.
  • Operative surgery and endovascular surgery as it pertains to General Vascular Surgery.
  • Noninvasive diagnostic techniques such as radioisotope imaging, echography, and plethysmography.
  • Basic medical sciences with emphasis on anatomy, embryology, pathology, physiology, and osteopathic principles as they relate to General Vascular Surgery.
