| Graduate Medical Education| Resident Programs | Medical Students Six groups of General Internists contribute to the education of the Medicine resident, dedicating one physician from their group each month to lead a teaching service consisting of residents, interns and medical students. Rounds are made on a daily basis, enabling close supervision of the house staff, constant interaction and feedback, and the highest quality of patient care. Similar experiences exist on the subspecialty services as well. Botsford has continued to have a tradition of excellent didactic educational opportunities in addition to a wide array of clinical exposures. One-hour educational conferences are held each morning and include a morning report with clinical case presentations, presided over by staff internists, subspecialty lectures, individual resident lectures, Harrison's club, board review, ambulatory medicine lectures, and the popular weekly hematology conference. Journal club and morbidity and mortality conferences occur monthly. A noon lecture is scheduled Monday-Thursday with a wide variety of topics including Pulmonary, Gastroenterology, Cardiology, Emergency Medicine, Behavioral Medicine, Pediatrics, Osteopathic Medicine, and Radiology. To enable the resident to achieve their maximum potential, he or she is assigned a mentor from the attending staff, each of whom is charged with the task of meeting with the resident on a regular basis and overseeing their progress throughout their three years. The Botsford Library & Internet Services department offers a full range of print and electronic resources and services.
